Armstrong Air & Heating Partners with Habitat for Humanity Orlando

Habitat for Humanity Orlando

Orlando, Florida – October 5, 2014 – Orlando, Florida’s Armstrong Air & Heating, a full-service HVAC organization offering installation, repair, and maintenance nationwide, has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Orlando, Florida to provide a new heating and cooling system for their next project.

This is Habitat for Humanity Orlando’s sixth Home at Last project, which honors combat-wounded veterans who served in either Iraq or Afghanistan. This project is honoring Marine Sergeant Stephen Tovet, and his wife, Krystina.

Sgt. Tovet enlisted in 2006, after high school graduation. He was deployed to Iraq in 2007, and to Afghanistan in 2011. In May 2011, while on patrol, an IED blast caused him to sustain injuries to both legs, and his left hand, so severe he was in a coma for a week. As a result of the injuries, his left leg was amputated above the knee, part of his left hand was amputated, and his left hand, lower right leg, ankle, and foot were all surgically reconstructed.

Sgt. Tovet was born in Orlando, and grew up in Apopka, where he met his wife. As high school sweethearts, there were married in 2010, while Tovet was home on leave. Once Tovet completed his rehabilitation, they re-confirmed their vows in a larger ceremony with family and friends, in 2012. The two of them knew they wanted to make Orlando home, but are currently living in a dilapidated modular home that is difficult for Tovet to move around in, because of his wheelchair.

Habitat for Humanity Orlando is now building the Tovets a disability-friendly home, in Southwest Orange county, with the help of numerous volunteers and donations. Armstrong Air & Heating has stepped in to provide the home’s central heating and air system, to ensure the Tovets live in comfort in their new home.

Once the home is built, the Tovets plan to raise a family of their own, and start a firearms business.

Armstrong Air & Heating believes in giving back to the community in any way possible. Many other businesses, churches, organizations, and civic groups have come together to make this project move smoothly – and to strengthen the Orlando community.
